My Great Grandmother "Grammy Mac," daughter of Lydia Caley and Edward Docherty, was born in 1892. After Docherty left the family Lydia the married Ed Roach. Ed adopted Bernice and her name was legally made Bernice Roach. Bernice had two half siblings from Ed and Lydia: Mildred and Glenn (both died prior to 1983). She also had 11 half siblings from Docherty and Rose Watz whom she most likely did not know.
Bernice married Frank McCallister on June 16, 1916. They lived with Frank's parents for the first six months but Bernice and Franks mom, Ida, did not get along. They had a daughter, Wilda, March 3, 1918. They bought a farm in Ohio with Frank's dad. June 30, 1930 they had their second daughter, Joyce.
Bernice and Frank sold the farm in 1967 and moved to Hugo St, Maumee, Ohio. In 1976 they moved to a duplex in Ashland with Wilda and her husband living in the other half.
In 1977 Bernice moved into a house in Tennessee bought by Joyce. Her husband, Frank, died January 20, 1981. Joyce transferred to Florida and Bernice followed and moved into a retirement home in Kissimee. She passed away in at age 93 on 24 Jan 1988.
